More Than Just a Path.

We are the Friends of Berrien County Trails—a non-profit dedicated to connecting our communities, fostering health, and celebrating the natural beauty of Berrien County.

We believe that accessible trails are more than just pathways—they are the vital links that bring our community together, protect our environment, and inspire a healthier lifestyle.

Our Mission

To support the planning, development, and maintenance of a safe, accessible, and scenic trail network that connects people, places, and nature across Berrien County.

Our Vision

A connected community where every resident and visitor has access to world-class hiking, biking, and water trails—promoting wellness, economic growth, and environmental stewardship.

Our Goals:

Educate 
Increase awareness and understanding of trails, how they benefit our communities and what is needed to develop/expand the trails network.

Advocate
Promote the value of trails with municipalities, schools, user groups and community groups.

Identify & Develop Trails
Assist in creating specific routes and solicit support from relevant municipalities, assist with obtaining right-of-way and initiating construction.

Secure Funding
Establish multiple funding streams to provide impactful financing for trails development and maintenance.

Programming

Create engaging events, volunteer opportunities, and community activities that encourage people to experience, care for, and connect with Berrien County’s trail network.
