The Lakeview Trail in Benton Harbor, Michigan is a scenic mountain biking and hiking trail system located on the Whirlpool Corporation Lakeview Campus. This unique trail network offers miles of wooded singletrack designed primarily for mountain biking, while remaining open to hikers, runners and anyone looking to enjoy Southwest Michigan’s natural landscape.
The trail winds through lush forests and rolling terrain, creating a quiet outdoor escape just minutes from Lake Michigan and the nearby cities of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph. One of the most distinctive features of the trail system is a two-way tunnel beneath M-63, which allows users to safely travel between the east and west sides of the campus.
The west loop provides beautiful views of Lake Michigan and includes a variety of trail features such as bridges, berms and flowing singletrack, making it a popular destination for both beginner and experienced riders. Visitors may also spot local wildlife along the trail, including white-tailed deer and red-winged blackbirds. In the spring, the forest floor fills with wildflowers like violets and wild geraniums, adding to the scenic experience.
The Lakeview Trail also connects directly to the Lakeshore Trail, a growing regional multi-use path that links nearby parks, beaches and communities along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
